Earl, who was an unrestricted free agent, appeared in 32 games for the Wild last season and notched six goals. He also posted 10 goals and eight assists in 41 games for Houston of the American Hockey League.

The 25-year-old Chicago native was originally selected by Toronto in the sixth round of the 2004 NHL draft.
